I served from Sept. 1976 to Mar. 1979 as a medic.  Are there any fellow medics on board?

Yes, I was there when it was still the Nickle O Nasty and there when the '09 was disbanded and re-designated the 4/325 PIR.

I was there the entire time under the command of Nuke'm Needham, and then some.

Yea, me and my friend were there 82-84 HQ co. was supposed to go to alpha Co. But got stuck in HQ. I still remember Col. Needham and the place like it was yesterday...The funny thing is that when we were there my friends little brother at the time was shipped off to Military schools and was excepted to west point. Today he just made Lt col. for the new 509th here in the states out of Louisiana....Small world...

Did anyone serve with Bernie DeKay in the mid 70's?  He was in Bravo company.

Caudle:

My wife and I stopped in Vicenza in 2004 on our trip through Italy and on our way to Garda. There was no sign of Johnnie's whatsoever, and Septembres was a pastry shop. That was a rude awakening. We spent the better part of two days there, stayed at the Hotel Boscolo de la Ville, which was very nice, but the weird thing was that we never saw an American on the streets of Vicenza - anywhere. I tried to slip onto Caserma Ederle from the front, which was the way we always went in back in the day, but that was strictly the Italian entrance, and the main entrance was way the heck down by the autostrade on a street calle Via Aldo Moro, which wasn't even there when I was there.

It was nice to go back but it was nowhere even close to what it used to be. I guess everything changes - not the least of which is the memory portion of my brain.
