Subject: The Crucible
Boondocks    7/25/2006 12:52:02 AM
I just found out that the U.S. Marines implemented, as they call it "Ranger/SEAL" type training called "The Crucible" in their basic training to create spec ops type team work within the Corp.. I am sure this is old news to a lot of you, but does anyone think that the Army and the rest of the military basic training ought to implement this? The Army and others may already have this type of training, I don't know. Does anybody know about or experienced this training?

Primarily meant as a simulation of combat.

The Crucible is just an end of training FTX with some sleep deprivation and stress thrown in. Outside the advertising slogan angle of giving it a catchy name it really is not anything particularly new or novel.

If they can't get through the Crucible, then real USMC training will kick them in the nuts.
