A friend of mine in the airline business told me about a flight he recently took from Europe to Saudi.  It wasn't a regularly scheduled flight and the passengers were only U.S. airline people and Engineers.  He said the stewardesses from the Saudi flight crew were wearing T shirts and jeans, and after serving the small group of passengers sat around talking with them.  Once they got close to Saudi however, they donned their veiled uniforms and all familiarity ceased.  What I find particularly interesting about this is the apparent acquiesence of the male members of the crew.

Nothing new there - having lived there from 1996-2001 this was a routine for the Saudi passengers as well.  You must understand that the majority of Saudis live below what is our poverty line.  They are the main targets that the Friday hate filled prayers and Al Queda recruting is aimed at.  Those who, either professionally (as those stewardesses - who are generally not Saudi) or as tourists (and of course the innumerable dual Saudi/US citizens) enjoy western pleasures abroad or in the privacy of their own home, but would never do so under the oppressive rules of Wahabiism (especially in Riyadh).

While, as whitebull stated, we can all "hope" - the facts remain that Saudi Arabia has always been the source of the hate that created 9-11.  They fund the Sunni insurgents doing most of the killing of our troops in Iraq.
