already put this thread in another category.. then realised this is where i should post it... does anybody know if the US really did cancel its order for 1205 comanche helis???

Yeah, Comanche was deemed to not have a clear, post-Cold War mission by Rumsfeld along with a number of other major systems.

In the end, the order was only to be for 300 or so Commanches, and the Army felt they had better places to spend their money. Instead of pushing ahead with the procurement, they used the money to buy 300+ ARH-70s, 300+ UH-72s, Warrior UAVs (Predators), new transports (soon hopefully, despite the AF running interference on them!) and rebuild hundreds of Blackhawks and Chinooks. All in all, a very good deal for the Army, and arguably something the Air Force could do with noting!
