Subject: Why Non-Lethals kill.
Vulture    7/20/2004 10:01:47 AM
Yes they do kill some people.
Tasers:
1. Heart attacks -getting hit by a taser scares you like getting hit by lightning, thus heart attacks and possible death.
2. Lethal hit- There is supposedly one case where the perp ducked and caught the taser probes in the face. One penetrated the occipital caivty and the the perp died from a seizure by massive electrical stimulation of the brain. If documented , it would still be a freak occurence.

Tear Gas/Pepper Spray/Other Gaseous Violatiles
1. Heart Attacks- Perps and bystanders who panic fromt the feeling of aphysixation and self-induce a heart attack. Prompt medical attention needed, but delayed usually in combat conditions.
2. Asthma- Some people just don't have that good a respiratory system. And the gases set offf an asthma attack. Do you let the perp search around for his inhaler. Or is he faking it?
3. Allergic reaction- There are younger people who have level 3 (severe/fatal) reactions to capsicum. Thus a face spraying is seen as a lethal attack [Why these same kids go out for massive protests is suicidal behavior from my viewpoint]. Who has the Epi Pen?
