I'm sure the air force is worried. After kissing Chinese ass Mr bush has no chsance of re-election. They can spin it all they want, but out here in the boonies it looks like the deal was give us back our hostages and we won't send Aegis to Tiwain. If Bush dosen't take obvious action against the Chinese he is toast. Watch the Dems take this ball and run with it, right into the end zone. The Left knows how to saddle that horse, and the horse will run for anyone. The Media will love it. If the people that elected him didn't value itegerity, Gore would be there and the economy wouldn't be in the tubes. So the Air Force Generals know that In 4 years there will be a new team running things. The game plan is to put off everything except getting F-22's. Remember Fighter Jocks run the Air Farce.

So back to the origional subject. Is there a point to a US Space force yet. I would think it would make more sense to wait untill the USAirforce has manned space craft. If it was created now the number of people in it would be very small. I can't imagine more then 50,000 personel even if you included the ICBMs. So the political clout to get more money from congress would be almost non existant. When it comes to Bush I do think he will be relected. I don't know if any of you are Americans that have posted on this question, but right now Howard Dean, The democratic leading contender is not that popular. The Saddam this has helped Bush out alot here. Unless a decent Democrat gets into the lead unfourtantly it looks like Bush will be around for another 4 years.

the original post was made over 2 years ago during the china situation. Before 9/11. Before Afghanistan. Before Iraq. Before Saddam was captured. The economy is on an upswing, people are getting tax refunds, our military is actually doing well in its campaigns. Bush will be reelected, no problem.

Re: Space force: Its already there, called NASA. There is no current, strategic need for weapon platforms in space, so all that is required is constant R and D on similar areas. Re Bush re-election. Possible, but personally I wont be voting for him. Funny enough, since I'm from Ireland... Seriously, I dont think massive budget deficits are any way to manage an econemy in the long run.

It will be the Navy - Not the Air Force that will be the "Space Force".  You may have fighters in space, but the mother ship will be one big aircraft carrier.
