Russia has established a small force of aircraft in Kyrgyzstan. Russian air force troops arrived at the  Kant air base last October and now have about 200 troops and ten aircraft (Su-27 fighters, Su-25 ground attack bombers and military transports). Personnel are to be increased to 800 troops by this Summer, and joint training exercises with Kyrgyzstan forces will take place later in the year.
