Hey, G.I Joe, has it ever occurred to you that what you call "sacrifice" from the part of the US was no sacrifice at all? Every country acts in its own interest; generosity does not exist. When the US deploys in a country, it is to promote American interests. Of course, the US population regard it as mere generosity, since that is the way it is always presented in American medias... The UN serves the interests of the majority against more powerful (and more ruthless) countries, such as yours. And the impressive number of UN sanctions the US has violated clearly shows that the UN is an obstacle to its hegemonic views. By the way, when will you stop your criminal and ridiculous embargo on Cuba? Once I discussed with an American about that. When I asked "Frankly speaking, what is the threat from Cuba?", he was unable to answer... They threaten you with their cigars, perhaps? As for the problem of poverty, you write the US should spare money on military interventions to help the poor... Hilarious. Among all the industrialized countries of the world, yours is the one where the gap between the rich and the poor is the widest !!! Your government obviously is not interested in solving the problem... Long live capitalism ! But now that G.W Bush is your new president, I hope everything will go better. He is so bright, so incredibly clever... One of the greatest intellectuals of our time, really ! Malrait

Malrait... G.I. Joe here. What country are you from? Lets be honest with each other. You want to take shots... well make them count. Be a man and step up with what country you are from. The last I heard ... Cuba is still appx 90 miles from our AMERICAN border. They once tried to put Nuclear Missile there... or was that a mistake? No... I dont think so. They are still a Communist country. We keep a careful watch of those we cant trust. Now as far as the embargo... SO WHAT. I smoke cigars and would love more Cubans here. But as far as the embargo... that is in Castro's hands. We have given him plenty of oppertunities to cooperate with us. He still does not want to play and in turn... hurts his own people .. that he supposedly LOVES? Ha!!! You are right about the hungry and poor in this country.. its sick. Some of our own soldiers are on food stamps and welfare. Our government does need to do better. But CLINTON sure didnt help. AND... I dont see any other country in the world... giving to us. SO.. you do make another point. Americans to give to other countries ... and in return .. we expect them to help themselves and remain FREE!!!! FREEDOM is what America is all about. That is why our country was formed in the first place over 225 years ago. How old is your country? Oh and on the cheap shot on President Bush... Keep in mind two things: ONE... he WON!!! Cant be too dumb to win the most powerful office in the world. And TWO: Be advised.. if you live in a free country now... or in a war torn conflict area... President Bush will be the one to send me and my fellow soldiers to help you out. Think about that the next time you see American soldiers helping other counties out ... preserving or fighting for thier FREEDOM. Good luck to you. G.I. Joe

Well, I'm French... it surely doesn't surprise you, since we are portrayed in the American medias as one of the most anti-American people. Not that it is entirely wrong, but I can assure you there are pro-Americans too. First, Cuba: if the missile crisis is your only argument to justify the embargo, let me say that it is flimsy, to say the least. The cold war is over. You say (rightly) that the embargo is maintained "because Cuba does not want to cooperate". Your medias keep criticizing Cuban poverty and mismanagement, forgetting to notice that they are entirely due to the embargo!!! Cuba is a "rogue state" because it is not an economic ally. But the label only applies to your opponents... Turkey, whose disregard to human rights is blatant, has never been attacked by your government. And what about the embargo on Iraq, causing hundreds of casualties due to lack of medical equipment? "Freedom is what America is all about"? Since when? You have almost no history, but you have experienced: colonialism, ethnic cleansing, slavery, racial segregation, imperialism... Yes, in only 225 years, as you say, you have managed to commit all the atrocities of history. All colonial powers have given back almost all conquered territories, except the U.S.A. Your country has been built over the corpses of the Americans (the first ones, the "natives" as you call them). And now, there is democracy only for the WASPs in America. The "melting pot" has never worked... Now, if it can reassure you, our president is almost as stupid as yours. He has been elected, just as yours, for his popularity rather than his ideas or his competence. We are becoming like you: easily manipulated by our medias, unable to see the truth behind the propaganda, focusing more on appearance than reality... To me, that is the true danger to democracy and freedom! Wake up! your country, just like any other, acts only in its own interest; generosity does not exist, only "investment". I nicknamed you "G.I Joe", because you sound really candid and naive... Just like a Soviet Russian talking about communism. Malrait
