All remember the scandal of the nomination of Lybia for the "human right commissions". There is a french independant organisation called " reporters sans frontieres". Its job is to denounce and prevent attacks against journalists and the freedom of press , all over the world. this organisation has lost its "consultation ability" at the UNO. Only to have criticized the nomination of Lybia and have denounced incarceration of intellectuals and journalists in Cuba. So castro took his revenge by asking sanction against RSF. Who voted for : "true" democracies like china , saudi arabia , iran and ......incerdible , Brazil. Thank you Lula.

As for the UN, there's a local story, involving the Headquarters, which might be of interest. Not too many months past, the company which had the food and drink concession for the UN complex, in New York, changed. In connection with this, there was a brief labor dispute, and the workers running the members canteen, etc., walked out for a few days. Outside the chamber of the General Assembly, there's a winebar. When the walkout happened, as the concessionaires changed, the bar was fully stocked. When the new company came in, and got it's people into place, they discovered that the entire bar had been looted. Given the location, and restrictions on public access, it was more than clear that the people who stole the alcohol were either the permanent staff or the diplomats. (I have this story from the UN correspondent of one of the major American television networks, who was there, and saw what happened.)

Funny story but i am not amazed, alas. Maybe the employees who has been fired, took away the bottles as a extra-bonus ?? why not ?Maybe some diplomats of countries where the alcohol is forbidden , had pleasure time ?? Some diplomats are not paid enough , so ...? who knows ? who cares ?

The UN cafeterias and commissary were looted under orders of Secretary Generalismo Kofi Annan. I suspect the diplomats took more items from the food pantries than the number of items missing from the Iraqi National Museum.

The French feel screwed over by a UN that is a hypocritical organization of thieves, tyrants, and despots? You say the UN is merely a tool for petty dictators to protect their abusive little fiefdoms at the expense of Western Civilization and our common beliefs about Liberty and Enlightened Civilization? Now you can truly say "We are all Americans"! Welcome to the club!
