Subject: My God, a new objectiv view on the situation!
Dr. S    3/29/2004 12:51:30 PM
Duck and cover people! I feel that the entire war on terrorism is wrong, the basis for its origin is not a matter to be resolved throgh force and also it has sertanly created a clear divide between the East and the West, good job Bush(thanks for voting Bush, tank). The continious escalation of this so called war is a sign nei, a message from god, that this is not the way to go. The 9/11 attacks were most deffinatly a harsh blow and an unjust one at that but is this an excuse to launch not one but two wars? I think not. But it was an oppurtunity for Bush to take take the blurry gaze of the american public away from pulsading internal problems, and look goood while doing it. To bad he doesnt know his history(but who can blame him, when world history is a opional class whilst US his and gov is mandatory and longer classes) and saw that this sceem of his is already tried and failed many a time throughout history. Well good luck in this most unjust and missguided war for freedom.. Since I can do nothing to stop it I might as well join the stronger side, I mean even a retarded lion has claws..

you are right, suicide bombmakers would not fare well in god's judgment. what i don't know is how well Lockheed's chief missile architect would fare, either.

"what i don't know is how well Lockheed's chief missile architect would fare, either" I'm not God. I don't know either. I'm inclined to think though - and you may take my judgement as you will - that it probably isn't the business of making missiles that God is most centrally concerned with. For one thing, the Christian religion has never been overly critical of the secular institution of government. On the contrary, both Christ and the Apostles attest that secular government is ordained by God. "Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. Therefore whoever resists the authority resists teh ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves. For rulres are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Do you want to be unafraid of the authoirty? Do what is good, and you will have praise from the same. For he is God's minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God's minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil." - Romans 13:1-4 Let's stop here and note that the Christian view of government is a bit more complex than is expressed by four verses; note for example that these verses were written by a man who had by this time already many times been wrongfully imprisoned. Nonetheless, that should tell you something. Taken to the extreme, the above doctrine is the basis of 'the divine right of kings'. What few non-Christians in America realize is that it is also the basis of the separation of Church and state - both in America and throughout Christian history. The doctrine of the ordination of secular authority gaurantees that the secular authority is not subject to the church and that they remain distinct institutions. Thus, are pledge 'one nation, under God', isn't meant to compel anyone to worship a particular god in any particular fashion, but is an acknowledgement of the foundational belief of this country that it is subject to laws which are higher than the laws of men and thus we, Thomas Jefferson put it, 'are endowed by our creator with inalienable rights'. This from a man widely believed to be a Deist and not a Theist. In any event, missiles are today only the swords of yesterday. It doesn't seem to me that God would be centrally concerned with act of forging the sword with which he equips his stewards on this Earth, but rather with the means and ends to which they put the sword to use.

BH - dr. s showed himself as an Internet Board Troll from his first post. trolling in the manner such as that used by dr. s, now s .rd (oh, that is SO clever, how would anyone be able to guess that s .rd is the same idiot who posted as dr. s?!?!?!) such as multiple postings on various boards, without any clue or concept (this is not about differing opinion, it's purely lack of any verifiable knowledge in any area he posted!), his refusal to adress the facts when the "drivel" he posted was quickly and astutely refuted. That makes him a "troll". I will not make apologies to trolls. they do not deserve any form of discussion, since they refuse to discuss anything. Check out the "depth of knowledge" of this schmuck on the thread you began on Terrorism: Defined. He first stated that the opening shots (for Americans) in WWII was a terrorist attack. (wrong, as you have agreed.) Next he posted a date near the end of the war as the date the Pearl Harbor attack happened. This shows a complete lack of knowledge of military affairs. this IS after all a MILITARY strategypage. (no, you don't have to have served, or be a serving member of the Armed forces, but if you are going to discuss their area of expertise with them, you shouldn't start your discussions off with mistakes of such horrendous proportions.) we can forgive poor grammer - the members of the board are very forigiving of my "lack of caps" at times. Unrepentent ignorance is not tolerated very quickly and will be attacked vociferously, as it deserves to be. E.

"i think such attitudes it stifle freedom of expression and democracy" Criticism doesn't stifle expression. Criticism in the tone and spirit of the comments offered doesn't either, in people past the age of puberty. If someone shows up tossing expressions like "retarded lion" about, they can reasonably expect to be asked if they can't bother to clip their claws....
