Subject: This sums up the whole Gitmo Problem, doesn't it.

A quote from a detainee in Elbandeedo's linked article: "And you are probably a good man. But if I ever get free, I will kill you." Goodness me! Are we depriving that poor man of the "right" to legal counsel?

I was trying to think of something sarcastic to say, but a Red Haze settled in.

To that I again reply simply try that individual for whatever war crimes he committed. Those who criticize the US policy in this matter will find it Much more difficult to support convicted war criminals than to support unnamed individuals being held indefinately without legal counsel or the 'right' to a (military) trial.

The solution is simple. These captives desire to die in battle, and the interrogators may only legally kill them in self-defense. Give all the captives some knives, and line them up 500 yards from some Marines armed with rifles and bayonets. Instruct the captives that they may go free if they get past the Marines. Instruct the Marines that everyone of them will pull KP duty if any detainees escape. Everyone's happy, and the problem is solved.
