Subject: Saudi Arbian Attack-Eyewitness
giblets    5/13/2003 2:28:21 PM
I know some people in the kingdom, one of whom shares an office with someone who lived in the compounds, and was out for a run 15 mins before the attack (he has wounds from flying glass). His statement is that they went round round the compound throwing grenades into peoples villa's and firing indiscriminately. In terms of the attack, they are ssaying that a lead car burst through the gates, followed by the matyrdoom vehicles. Apparently one of which blew up early, going through the gates, and thus, setting the others off, and probably saving many lives. Most have the Saudi Guard for preventing the loss of more life.

Definitely. Al Qaeda is likely going to rachet things up a notch or two in a short time, when things have calmed down some.

This should show up the Saudis for what they really are - passive supporters of terror Against Westerners. Sure if there is a threat to the Saudi kingdom or monarchy them the Saudis will crack down. But there is no real help from the Saudis with tracking terror agents plotting against western targets. Add to that the apparent Incompetence of the Saudi intelligence services. They failed to uncover and prevent the attack. And they have no clue about what al-Qaeda will do next.

Have to say JFD, that Cordoba, one of the compounds that was attacked, is one of the largest in Riyadh (it has its own Golf Course!!), and should have been one of the best protected. They have been more worried over the years of getting raided by the Mattawa (religious police), especially over the new year period, as all the large compounds have their own bars,(which are obviously Ilegal),a nd have swiming pools where women in bathing costums mix redialy with men ( also ilegal). Alink to show you all the facilities: http://www.cordoba.com.sa/profile.html

Giblets, There was no attack on Cordoba, the attack was on Alhamra, Jedawel and Vinnyll Compounds, and Cordoba was next to one of these compounds. Since I have been to Riyadh so I have seen these compounds, Cordoba is really beautiful ..... just for information according to the rules of the country, Islamic police cannot enter these western compounds as they are out of limit for them. Even if police wants to enter the compound they need the permission from Governor of the City (Like search warrant) and I have never heard of any such instance when a compound has been raided. Cheers.

That second report showed new techniques, tactics and procedures. Think about it. why were there meatbombers on foot? to kill and injure yet more innocents as they came out of the buildings? sure. but worse - the first responders were the REAL targets. think about the death toll then? the outrage? we are seeing the terrorists take another step in escalating the war. unfortunately for them, it's like the kid who says, "But he started it!" - with the U.S. being the dad who says, "And I'm finishing it."
