Get Over It! We Are Not All Created Equal

Article

The author assumes that national security concerns are uppermost in DOD policy considerations.

Of course it's my opinion that national security takes a back seat to self-aggrandizement (Building patronage armies in the military) where liberals are concerned.

An excellent by a very knowledgeable source.

Takeaway points as follows:
* Troopers are different – Some are tall, some are short, some are color blind, some are women, etc.. Deal with it.
* Some women are capable of meeting the requirements for infantry. Most are not, and should not be forced into the role.
* We have a fair understanding of the physiological and psychological effects and limitations of combat on men. We are only starting to collect data on women, and there are BIG differences. [my interpretation] Better to go slow while accumulating more data than crippling a lot of women by barging ahead to meet artificial political deadlines. Shorter rotation cycles may also be needed.
* Female intelligence personnel will be critical in future deployments to overcome cultural barriers pertaining to contact with local women. Therefore we have no alternative to deploy women with the infantry, even if they are not infantry per se. Also, the programs to develop personnel for these roles do not yet exist.

According to the article, female physical performance deteriorates over time at a significantly higher rate and perhaps much more than male physical performance.

So it seems that it is the case that an individual who meets physical standards initially may over time cease to meet those requirements. This would suggest a need for some way of predicting a soldier's future performance.

But as before, I believe that the primary reason for expansion of female roles in the military is domestic and political as opposed to being motivated by an interest in national security.

The issue does not turn on whether women are inferior in general intelligence, knowledge, skills and abilities. Don't let any women know this but I am informed that women are naturally better marksmen than men because as a general rule they have superior dexterity. Rather, it is a matter of general suitability for the task.
