Subject: The Jobless Effect: Is the Real Unemployment Rate 16.5%, 22%, or. . .?
CJH    7/30/2010 6:49:12 PM
"That translates to an unemployment rate of over 22%, says Mayur, who has started questioning the accuracy of the Labor Department's jobless numbers." Quote - "Our numbers are always very accurate, so I was surprised at the discrepancy with the government's numbers," says Mayur, whose firm owns the TIPP polling unit, a polling partner for Investors' Business Daily and Christian Science Monitor. After all, the headline number shows the U.S. unemployment rate today is 9.5%, with a total of 14.6 million jobless people. However, Mayur's polls continued to find much worse figures. The June poll turned up 27.8% of households with at least one member who's unemployed and looking for a job, while the latest poll conducted in the second week of July showed 28.6% in that situation. That translates to an unemployment rate of over 22%, says Mayur, who has started questioning the accuracy of the Labor Department's jobless numbers. - End Quote

The "unemployment rate" is only an indication of employees who are registered to government database and subject to income tax.

There are a lot of people who draw checks from the government and do jobs in the shadow. And there are people who draw checks and grow pots in their backyard.

While conservatives are appalled by unemployment rate, leftists are cheering for it, knowing it is necessary to spread misery in order to further their lust for power and control

BTW, the more they suppress legal business and jobs, the more people will turn into underground economy. No, I'm not talking about drugs, prostitution, gambling or illegal trafficking of weapons. I'm talking about otherwise legal and beneficiary commercial activity. Things like coal mining, small farm operation, home-grown food exchange without FDA approval or fishing. When too many red tapes are restraining people's way to make a living, there will always be people who simply defy the law and proceed at all cost.

And those who choose to defy the law don't pay income tax.

What makes this so difficult to accept from the statist left is that free market economic policies would create a potential for greater amounts of tax revenue.
These big government people are so obsessed with control that they harm their own more legitimate interests.

They harm you, but not themselves. The name of the game is control, not money. Many still believe that money is everything. That is wrong. Money is only one aspect for people who are drunk with political power. Without legal frame work for them to exert control, they have no power. Without power, there is no flow of money, influence, fame, sex and women. If you think about it, it all fits well under Evolutionary Psychology.
That being said, as long as they have control via political power, they will have no shortage of money, food, women or luxury. It is you who'll get royally screwed.

The funny thing is that, if you show the above paragraph to an Atheist leftist progressive liberal, s/he'll accuse you for being a tin-foil hat wearing, Bible-quoting, God-believing, gun-toting Creationist nutjob.
