Although it won't come as a surprise that modern liberalism is not a legitimate political philosophy but rather a particularly pernicious form of insanity, psychiatrist Lyle Rossiter, Jr., MD deserves thanks for providing professional confirmation.

One commentator says it well:

20% of the population call themselves liberal

http://www.gallup.com/poll/141032/2010-conservatives-outnumber-moderates-liberals.aspx

20% of the population have mental illnesses

http://www.cnbc.com/id/40257359/Nearly_1_in_5_Americans_had_mental_illness_in_2009

It's not a coincidence.

"Young adults aged 18 to 25 had the highest level of mental illness at 30 percent, while those aged 50 and older had the lowest, with 13.7 percent, said the report by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration or SAMHSA.
The rate, slightly higher than last year's 19.5 percent figure, reflected increasing depression, especially among the unemployed, SAMHSA, part of the National Institutes of Health, said."

I wonder whether this reflects survey methods. Maybe women are more open about such personal matters -

"The survey also found that 23.8 percent of women had some form of mental illness, compared with 15.6 percent of men."

Obama Victory Fund Brings in C...

"Retirees, meanwhile, have contributed $3.72 million, or 10 percent about the committee's funds.

The next top industry supporters? The securities and investment industry, at $3.39 million, and the entertainment industry, at $2.53 million. These sums represent 8.6 percent and 6.5 percent, respectively, of the Obama Victory Fund's total receipts.

In the wake of the mortgage crisis, the real estate industry has still managed to contribute $1.92 million to the Obama Victory Fund.

And while last year's health care debate remains on people's minds, health professionals have given more than $700,000 and the pharmaceutical industry has contributed $247,000 to the committee. "
