seems someone has had a fricking brainstorm at DND. they are sending about 2000 guys to scenic Kandahar and for helo support they are refitting 8 sea kings to provide more lift capacity than the gryffons can manage. given the history of the sea kings just who thought this was a good idea???

seems the first wave has arrived at kandahar and began their familiarization patrols. sounds like they are going to try a more british approach to patrolling rather than driving about at high speed. this is probably the best opportunity yet to contrast the commonwealth style with the american approach we've had come up yet. not sure how long they will be in place but it will be 6 months at least which should give a baseline for comparison.

Im puting the finnishing touches on the last 2 M777 howitzers the Canadian Military bought to be deployed there at the minute. Excellent, when is delivery of the first to be expected? I am under the impression the first couple are coming to Canada for the boys to be trained on the new system.

After completion of acceptance firings each weapon has whats called a Final Inspection Record (FIR) which must be completed, this is a complete physical verificatrion of all weapon operation aspects: loading system timings, hydraulic cleanliness, Fire Control ALignment Tests, Visual inspections of every nut bolt and fastner, verification of critical torques etc, about 3 days solid work per howitzer.

Painting "this way towards enemy", on the muzzle? :D - Yimmy You may well laugh but for a while I had to stencil "Caution Loud Noise - Hearing Protection Required" Before common sense prevailed and it was removed
