There must be a special kind of low life that would pull this off. Today on the CBC National News it was reported that some person is using the death of one of our soldiers to scam people out of money.
The scam works like this. The poster shows a picture of a soldier who died in Afghanistan on the Internet. The poster takes on the identity of the father of the slain soldier and says he wants to sell his sons car, but the purchaser must take care of the car, but would only ask $6,000 for the car. The fraudster even has gone as far as trying to get information from the funeral home that helped out the family in their time of need.
Authorities haven't been able to track down this miscreant so far, other than to identify it as originating from the USA. Quite possibly, other service families in Canada and the US may have had this character or other low lifes like them trying to pull off a similar scam, so I thought I'd post this information here. |
