Subject: Poland to supply 8 Medium Lift Helo's to Afghanistan

The Polish Defence Minister was in Ottawa today and announced that 2 out of 8 Medium Lift Helicopters they are sending to Afghanistan are going to be assigned to Canadian operations. While most of us wished all 8 were going to support CDN. troops, I'm sure the 2 offered will be welcomed.

The last I read the earliest the government thought we could get new CH-47F was going to be around 2010-2011 due to the backlog in orders.  Nothing either has been done to finally get us some helicopter gunships or UH-60, etc.
