Today the MND Gordon O'Connor, along with the Industry, and Public Works Ministers announced the Conservative government's decision to buy 4 new Strategic Lift Tranports and 17 Tactical Lift Transports at a cost of $8.3-billion CDN. The odds on favourites are the C-17III Globemaster for the Strategic role and the C-130J Hercules for the Tactical role, although the C-27J Spartan and other aircraft may get the nod for Arctic duty.
This ends a week of announcements whereby the government has declared that $17.1-billion CDN. is to be spent getting new equipment for the CF. |
