Subject: Cdn. Air Force to buy $4.7-billion CDN. in Heavy Lift Helo's
Griffin    6/28/2006 11:33:39 PM
Today, MND Gordon O'Connor continued with the Conservative Government's announcements concerning the rebuilding of the CF. This time it was to announce the government's decision to spend $4.7-billion CDN. on new heavy lift helicopters and their maintenance program over 20-years. The CH-47 Chinook is the favourite at this point in time. Until the 1980's the CF had Chinooks, which were sold off to the Dutch, by the Mulroney Conservative Government, and two other types of helo's were removed from the inventory and replaced with the totally inadequate Griffon helicopter built in Quebec.

this is kinda scary. i may well have to sit down to take it all in. a canadian gov't actually spending money on the military and not even the "sexy" kind of military hardware. i may even have to reconsider voting for those lads next time round if they keep this up.

Ehran, well they are doing some good things, but messing up I'm afraid with the costs. Way above where they should be, which are $$$$ that could have gone for more gear or in the case of the JSS, been replaced by USN LHA/R Amphibious type vessels. Nevertheless, they have done more for the military in less than a year than the Liberals did in 12-years as they blame wrecking ball to the military.

I have a hunch the Russian submarines have diappeared from the screen - due to arrangements between Denmark and the US, and this in turn leaves funds to other military endeavours. These are a move towards light forces with great strategic mobility. Honestly I don't think it has anything to do with politics. Politics is just submitting to reality and boldfaced lie, that that was what you wanted to do all the time.
