"Embarking on a sightseeing jaunt Thursday with the leaders of Mexico and Canada, President Bush said he's "always optimistic" about resolving a trade dispute that has strained U.S. relations with Canada for years." http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060330/ap_on_re_la_am_ca/bush_canada_mexico

Isn't it easier to get along when our Government isn't pulling cheapshots? The US has pulled theirs from time to time, but no where near like we have.

lizard this lumber hassle goes back 20 years now. in that time we've seen democrat and republican presidents both on your side and we've had liberals and tories on our side. it seems to make very little if any difference as far as resolving things whether our leaders like each other. what needs to be is for the american gov't to live up to the frickin treaty they signed. if you lose a dispute then square up and go on with life instead of endlessly appealing and loosing again and again. dig up the stats on the number of wins/losses of disputes by the two sides and you'll see what's going on. i am hearing more and more people speak in favour of dumping nafta and going back to the trading relationship we had before. people are very frustrated over the inability to resolve anything under nafta. at least under the prior system if we had a problem we went straight to the international trade organization whose name escapes me at the moment and got a resolution in a somewhat reasonable amount of time. we also were not obligated to consider the us to be part of canada for purposes of energy sales etc.
