Yes, having a 76 mm gun is great. As opposed to 57 mm which has been chosen for some of the new ships. 76 mm gun is an all purpose weapon, unlike 57 mm which evolved from 40 mm Bofors AA gun of WWII. 76 mm has twice the range and the shell is twice as heavy.

INS Magen, the first-in-class of the Sa'ar 6 boats, just arrived at her home port of Haifa, where she'll be completed. This means integrating a huge number of sensors and weapons made by a host of different manufacturers, and many things can go wrong in a way ranging from your garden variety Gordian knot to a full-blown dumpster fire. Hopefully, it'll take about a year for INS Magen to start looking like a warship and begin pre-commissioning sea trials. By that time, her sisters will have arrived from Kiel and fitting them will have the benefit of prior experience.
