Subject: ROKN Patrol Corvette sucken by DPRK torpedo boat
YelliChink    3/26/2010 12:10:07 PM
Just happened 2150 Korean local time. Chinese reports say that it was DPRK torpedo boat. The ROKN corvette sunk is probably a 1200t PCC. I can't read Korean so I am not sure which one exactly. At this moment, 59 out of 104 crew have been saved so far. Best wishes to the still missing ones and condolence to families of lost sailors.

AMERICAN Chinese news source translate from Chosun Ilbo (Korean Daily). It says that North Korean refugee group in the South have confirmed from connections that it was Kim Jong-mentally-ill who personally ordered the attack. Locals near the area even know who exactly participated the action. The admiral in charge of the mission has been promoted recently by Kim himself, alone with unusual amount of promotion in the Korean People's Navy.

The report further says it was a modified semi-submersible. They have been practicing under the cover of North Korean and Chinese fishing vessels. Sources further pointed out that something big and worse will happen soon.

North Han Mei&O5109; Generalisoimo Kim Jong Il issues an order to attack the Cheonan ship. [Great Era on April 21 news]

The South Korean media reports that ?the North Korean Daily? on the 20th reported that a meeting by North Korea, aman who helps DPRK kidnapped RoK family member on behalf of Choe Seong-yong has publicized on the 19th of a North Korean high-level military officer's telephone conversation sound recording content that he intercepted. (recorded, acquired?)

The North Korea military officer (recorded) said in the sound recording: ?The Cheonan ship event is a North Korea well planned attack beforehand. This North Korean plotted, the Cheonan ship sinking the event as a pre-planned ambush. According to the telephone conversation sound recording content, this North Korea military officer said: ?the Cheonan ship meeting involves (some kind of class vessel that takes a ?thirteen member? [special forces crew?] H) that sorties from North Korea?s (waters) from beyond Jangsam Cape (Pipa Cape? H) to make a submerged attack. Is not only the North Korean military who know this, even the most common people also know of who attacks the Cheonan ship.?

This military officer also explained the background that led to the Cheonan ship's attack, saying; ?in last November, Kim Jong Il after Mayflower Glorybower (I don?t even know if this us accurate. H) naval defeat at the hands of the RoKN, visits the Nampo West Sea fleet headquarters personally. He issues the order that said that 'the DPRK must in any event certainly retaliate'.? He (the officer on the telephone? H.) said: ?until some time ago, Jin Yingche with Yu East (This makes no sense to me, H) , that the senior general assigned, traveled many times between Pyongyang and Nampo and worked out the operation plan. Navy Commander Jeong Myeong-do kept at it (planning?), until the combat has (departed?) Nampo.? General Jin Yingche has plenary powers and is responsible for (to?) spy agency chief who works to spy on the South. He is mentioned many times in the Cheonan ship attack document kept by the RoK secret investigation committee (This is a wild translation on my part, as this doesn?t make any sense to me either. H) and was mentioned by the South Korean information authority.

National security department chief vice-minister Yu East estimated that (Opined suggested? Who is He? H.) (national defense committee member) and navy Commander Jeong Myeong-do (on April 15) get promotions on the Kim Il Sung 98th birthday's this year sun festival as a senior general. In this year?s sun festival, North Korea military implements the promotion through the personnel adjustment up to more than 100 great soldier army corps level cadres (I am going to interpolate this as field grade officer list promotions? H.). Promotions to the list, for the senior general, includes, Yu East (suggests? H) with Jeong Myeong-with just four other people. Yu East measured (suggested?) that in the promotion to general, in less than one year to this promotion, is the senior general. Jeong Myeong-do, who was defeated in last year's Mayflower Glorybower naval battle the later a huge loss of face for him, and was (demoted, not promoted last time these officer promotions were scheduled? H.), but this time (after the Cheonan incident. H.) he finally obtained his promotion. It is a reason to make one very suspicious.

This North Korea military officer said: ?This sortie from North Korea?s Jangsam Cape for the Cheonan ship's sinking, by the ?thirteen members?, (special forces?) (this Three Type now sounds like the NAME of the semi-submersible class ship involved, H), is a certain (type?) of which I am very familiar. As far as I know, because this combat type is important (in?) North Korea military, (it?) is a semi-submersible three (type?), capable of a half submarine transformation, and has carried out this task. He added: ?After ?the Cheonan ship sinks, military headquarters' morale greatly improves, Thirteen Members (special forces?) enjoy the heroic treatment.? This military officer said: ?(the type ship used?) looked like the ?submarine? intended to mix in (as it has) many times nearby Bailingdao (to hide) between the working North Korea fishing boat fleet and the Chinese fishing boat fleet and has carried on the camouflage exercise (many times?). Because it also carries on camouflage in East China Sea, will have from now on possibly a bigger model. He, the North Korean officer, (suggested this as a means, H.) to deny that the DPEK (was?) involved, so that the Cheonan ship (would be) to submerge accident's cause laid. North Korea television station's reports:?will certainly not acknowledge an attack.?

?Because of frequent emergency alerts, we are also very exhausted.? (officer? agen

Kinda hard to swallow that all that information was from a single phone call.

The DPRK is rumored to prepare another bomb test in May. Why do they need a bomb test?

"MOFA?s announcement came a day after ROK television station YTN, citing sources in Beijing, reported that the DPRK is currently preparing for a third nuclear test in May or June of this year.  YTN?s report of a third nuclear test has been denied by the ROK?s Foreign Ministry and the State Department."

If North is found responsible, Yu says, speaking ?hypothetically?

Operations continue yesterday to lift the bow of the Cheonan at the sinking site near the disputed inter-Korean border in the Yellow Sea for the investigation into the cause of the accident. The stern, salvaged last week, arrived at the Navy base in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi, for further probe. [NEWSIS]

Despite North Korea?s denial of its involvement in the recent sinking of a South Korean Navy warship, Seoul?s foreign minister said yesterday that bringing the matter to the United Nations Security Council is an option if Pyongyang was found responsible.

It is the first time a senior Lee Myung-bak administration official commented on possible retaliation against the North since the March 26 sinking of the corvette Cheonan in the waters near the inter-Korean border.

An initial examination of the wreckage last week showed that an external explosion sunk the ship. Defense Minister Kim Tae-young?s characterization of the incident as a ?grave situation of national security? has fueled speculation about a North Korean involvement.

?Although I am speaking about a hypothetical situation, the first thing that we can think about is taking the matter to the United Nations Security Council, if the North was proven to be behind the incident,? Foreign Minister Yu Myung-hwan said on the KBS?s ?Inside the Issues,? yesterday morning.

Noting that the UN Security Council has authority to review matters related to a war, Yu said a discussion at the powerful UN organ in charge of the international security and peace is possible. The two Koreas are technically still at war because the Korean War ended with an armistice in 1953.

The Blue House said yesterday President Lee will issue a special message to the nation today regarding the Cheonan?s sinking.

On the KBS program Yu also said it is important to strengthen and improve the joint defense posture of the United States and South Korea against the North. ?In addition to that, it is important to cooperate with other friendly nations such as the European Union, Japan, China and Russia to deal with this matter,? Yu said. ?We have to cope with the situation through bilateral cooperation with countries that share our views.?

?It?s premature to identify the accurate cause [of the sinking],? Yu said. ?The government is pre

Okay, so will someone who was so concerned about not rushing to judgment please let me know when it is finally okay to accept the conclusion that has been obvious all along, and acknowledge that the North Koreans topedoed the Cheonan?  Yet again, I assert that if the South Koreans have any balls and backbone, the F-15Ks will fly before this issue is settled.  At the barest minimum, utterly *all* interaction of any sort between North and South--foremost of all, any economic activity--should be halted.  America should join in, and together we should attempt to bring on board as much of the rest of the world as possible.

The Cheonan was split in half and sunk by an unexplained explosion

South Korea has raised the front half of a warship which sank last month near the disputed sea border with the North.

An unexplained explosion split the ship in half and it sank with the loss of 46 sailors.
Investigators have already said the damage appeared to have been caused by an external blast, feeding suspicions North Korea may have been involved.

South Korea has avoided blaming the North outright and Pyongyang has denied any role in the sinking of the vessel.

The front half of the Cheonan, a 1,200-tonne corvette, was raised by a giant crane and placed on a barge to be towed to a naval port for inspection.

The stern was lifted out of the sea last week.

The body of one missing sailor was found in the bow wreckage and it will be searched for the bodies of six of its crew who are still missing.

Fifty-eight sailors were rescued after the explosion on 26 March.

'Resolute' response

Military sources cited by South Korea's Yonhap news agency said there was more evidence from the bow section that the explosion that sank the ship was external.

Part of the bottom of the front half appeared to have been blown off diagonally, the unnamed sources said.

If the two halves of the ship were fitted together, the centre of the bottom of the ship would be shaped like an inverted V, they said.

The ship's smoke stack and its radar mast, both located at the centre of the ship, were also reported to be missing.

Australian, US and Swedish investigators are helping the South Koreans with their investigation into the cause of the sinking.

Tensions have mounted over the incident, with Pyongyang accusing Seoul of "deliberately linking" it to the sinking.

South Korean President Lee Myung-bak has vowed to respond "resolutely" to the sinking and bolster the military, though he has not accused North Korea.

The two countries are still technically at war since the 1950-53 war ended without a peace treaty. There have been three previous naval clashes in the same area as the Cheonan went down, off the west coast of the peninsula.
