Subject: The What was that 'mysterious' flying object? Thread
VelocityVector    11/9/2010 3:33:23 PM
h**p://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lanow/2010/11/curiousity-over-mystery-missile-online.html There have been a number of interesting plume sightings off SoCal recently and I wanted to solicit your speculation and commentary. With the latest event I note that our military has stated with certitude that national security was not jeoparized. I take this to mean the military actually knows what occurred but it ain't saying. So my WAG is that we are witnessing the testing of ballistic missile launches from shipboard containers as a means of improving our defenses against this emerging threat vector. Thoughts? v^2

you would expect to see "declared air space" provisions and NOTAMs issued if it was a Govt event.

Zulu time is 8 hours different, which puts this alert prior to the launch. Our side. Somebody at the Navy just didn't get the memo.

Apparently a jet airplane contrail viewed under confluence of atmospheric conditions is responsible for the event.  (Although I am interested in the Chinook helicopter captured by the video.)  I buy the contrail explanation, regardless, and in retrospect it seems pretty obvious.

"Note to the media ? since this was almost certainly Flight AWE808 from Hawaii to Phoenix, why not have a camera crew somewhere in the vicinity (does not need to be exact, or a chopper), at around 5-5:30 today (or rather, on Friday, as there was no flight on Wednesday or Thursday ? check the schedule for AWE808 first), and if the weather is right you?ll see the same trail again. (or check the web cam)

Note to everyone else ? If you have photos of the Nov 8 contrail from any angle, please email them to [email protected]"
