Subject: Will Taiwan drag U.S. and China into an all-out nuclear war?

Will Taiwan drag U.S. and China into an all-out nuclear war? At least to me, the chance of this happening is not small. Taiwan declares independency. China reacts with missiles and bombs. U.S. sends carriers. A few are sunk by Chinese nuclear war heads. U.S. retaliates with more nuclear war heads…

I have to admit though, it would be fun to see how the ABL and NMD work. Seeing as how those projects are no longer black, it makes me wonder if we are already moving onto High Energy Lasers for the NMD. Plop a couple lasers attached to nuclear reactors, send em up into space, and you got one hell of an antimissile system. Eventually nuclear war will be planned using low flying cruise missiles launched by submarine. ICBM's are slowly moving into relic status when you are talking about assaulting the USA. Except for Russia, they still got enough to massively penetrate our current shield and whatever we put up for a decade or two.

Bombing over a nuclear country is very dangerous. Even though China has made it clear it won't be the first to use nuclear weapons, soldiers might be hiding in a cave without seeing women for too long or might simply get drunk and decide to do something for their country.

If the CCP is stupid enough to start a war we get involved in, stupid enough to put the activation codes for their nuclear weapons in the hands of their OBVIOUSLY RABID military, then they will deserve the destruction wrought upon them if they initiate nuclear war.

The almighty US dollar would do that job, as it always does in corrupt countries.

So the conclusion is no risk of nuclear war. It's gonna be a conventional warfare.

I wonder how long would it take for China to move its naval assests within striking range of Taiwan and at what point would there intent be aparent?

The problem of them getting their navy ready would be watchable but not so much so. The question is how many troops will they need to put on the island before they lose sea control, and how many they can sneak into the area before we notice. As to nuclear warfare, the Chinese would be insane to initiate it. Much like Saddam would have been insane to use his chemical munitions in either Gulf War.

"And you suppose that China will "allow" U.S bombers over their sky before unleashing the nukes--which is a pretty intelligent idea." Hey, I wasn't the one who brought it up. Of course, there is the fact that the B-2 was sort of designed to penetrate air defenses and strike before the enemy is aware of its presence, and the fact that it would take quite a bit of fighting to gain air superiority over the Taiwan Straits, let alone Greater China. Rurouni, since you seem bent on taking the opposite side from me no matter what I say, I must wonder if I wronged you in a past life. Either that, or you're a former roomie of mine...come to think of it, he did like anime...nah, he married a Japanese girl.

Well it would seem that the USA and it's policy of MAD would prevent a Nuclear War!!!. Because in reality as the name implies "It would be Mutually Assured Destruction, but Total Destruction of China". However with CCP leaders saying they will 1st strike the USA,and now the USA has just stated we are looking for new ways to pre-emptive strike an enemy with our nukes. Perhaps for the sake of both the USA and China, and all the World "We should all just leave little Taiwan alone???".Well just a thought!!!. Have A Nice Day!!! tigertony

Tigertony, no Chinese government (whether CCP or democratic), will ever leave Taiwan alone. They will leave a name as "traitor" in Chinese history if they do nothing once Taiwan claim independence. Best option is of course united under a democratic federal government.
