Subject: No change!

Let's face it, some generations will never change. I worked in Africa for several years; Somalia, Sudan, Angola, Rwanda, R. of Congo (Zaire). One thing I realize is that until the people of these countries learn to help themselves, they (the people and the country) will never change. They have become dependant on international aid for everything including defense. Most of these places are lawless and justice is usually carried out by those who happen to carry the strong arm for the moment. America - unfortunately is a victim of its' own compassion. "You can take the Somali out of Africa, but you can't take Africa out of the Somali." This fact is supported by the khat growth in north-eastern America. The same principal goes for many refugees that jump on the relocation bandwagon. Maybe... just maybe.. these nations should learn to sink or swim. We can speak all year on the contributions that the international community has made to Africa, but what has Africa done for the rest of the world? Maybe America should send Sally Struthers to Africa for good. I was in Somalia before, during and after the American were there. That was the only time I had ever seen hope in the eyes of a Somali child. But the end came quickly when the Somali people decided that warlordship and lawlessness was a more lucrative way of life. To deter the risk of being labeled a racist, I will stop short of saying that black people in general have a strong genetic trait when it comes to human irresponsibility [example: LA Riots, Haiti, Africa, and let's not forget the reaction of black America during the O.J Simpson trial and the current Jackson allegations.] Black Americans should be happy they're in America and not in Liberia. Another case of biting the hand that feeds you. As for Somalia... it's too late. Organizations are quick to elaborate on the mortality rate of children in Africa, but what about the birth rate? The rate of birth far exceeds the rate of death by a wide margin. Some people just don't know when to quit. Another similarity to black Americans. Could it be a genetic trait as well?

Nope... not the KKK. Just an anthropologist not being afraid to call it as I see it.
