I don't quite understand the "not profitable" part. Manufacturing small batches can be profitable if the price is right. There are few of B-2's, as well. I doubt there are so many general purpose components in it, ones that can be manufactured in large batches.

the article clearly states that producing 5 engines per year is possible but the price they quoted was too high for the Russian government and they didn't agree to pay. So, yes, anything can be made in any quantity for a price, obviously, just as obviously, the price was too high. Profitable? well, no, as no one agreed to pay it. So manufacturing to meet current low demand will soon cease. It's literally written above.

Wonder if they could have chosen the engine to equip also the PaK-FA. The B1 has the F 16 engines

Blackjack is much older than PAK-FA, those engines did not exist then. Probably wouldn't fit. I doubt that Russia is going to dump Blackjack so soon. They might replace it with something similar. Russia will alway needs ultra fast aircraft. They have the largest territory in the world to defend and never enough fighters and bombers. They simply can't afford not to have them. I think that bitching about the price is just haggling.
