Subject: F-35 vs. Eurofighter

Lockheed says that besides the f-22, the f-35 will be the best air to air fighter in the future, is this true? Could an f-35 take a Eurofighter? My opinion says yes since f-35 contains more stealthy characteristics.

US Air Force chief praises Eurofighter 21 July 2004 LAAGE - The chief of staff of the US Air Force, General John P. Jumper, was quoted Wednesday as praising the Eurofighter Typhoon after a test flight on the much-maligned jet, which has been in service just 11 weeks with the German Air Force. "I've flown all the air force jets. None was as good as the Eurofighter," he said, according to an account by the German Air Force of his Tuesday try-out of one of the two-seater jets based at Laage Air Force Base near the Baltic coast city of Rostock. The general praised the jet fighter for its agility, manoeuvrability, acceleration and precise navigation.

The Super Hornet has a smaller RCS than the Eurofighter.

I would look at this section regarding the performance of the Eurofighter Typhoon compared to contemporary jet fighters. http://www.eurofighter.com/Typhoon/SwingRole/# The CASTOR multi-mode Pulse Doppler system developed from GEC's Harrier FA.Mk.2 is in it’s present incarnation inferior to the AESA Active Array. However the CASTOR system that will be fitted to the Eurofighter will have been upgraded to AMSAR or Airborne Multi-mode Solid-state Active-array Radar which will provide it with an entirely solid-state advanced active array radar that will be the most advanced in NATO when entering service on top of some of the world beating features of the existing CASTOR like the use of three processing channels which enables more efficient sidelobe nulling, interference blanking and jammer classification. I would also look at this link: The BVR Combat rating rates the E/F 2000 second only to the F-22. I would also look at the ratings categories below that to get an idea of fighter ranking, the F-35 and F-22 both have better RCS reduction than the E/F 2000 but the Super Hornet certainly does not have better RCS features than the next-generation Eurofighter, I don‘t even know why your bothering to compare them. http://www.eurofighter.starstreak.net/Eurofighter/tech.html

The Super Hornet and the Eurofighter are both 4.5 generation, and yes, the Super Hornet DOES have a smaller RCS than the Eurofighter, but not by much, it doesn't even matter it's so close. These 2 fighters are very equal in many ways and have different advantages over each other.

The Super Hornet is by definition a fourth generation fighter aircraft like the BAE/Saab Gripen, the Eurofighter like the Rafale, F-22 and F-35 are fifth generation. I would like to see data in regards to the Super Hornet’s RCS properties.
