Subject: USAF Reveals 30-Year Plan: Replacement for F-22 to start development in 2020
Phaid    2/15/2010 4:53:17 PM
The US Air Force (USAF) has revealed a raft of fighter, strike, transport, special mission and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) development programmes in a 30-year plan released in February. The proposals were included within the US Department of Defense's (DoD's) Aircraft Investment Plan covering the period between FY11-FY40 that it submitted for the first time in February as part of the FY11 budget request. Under the plan, USAF expects to allocate funding to initiate the development of replacements for both the Lockheed Martin F-22 multirole fighter and C-5 Galaxy strategic transport aircraft by Fiscal Year (FY) 2020. http://www.janes.com/news/defence/jdw/jdw100215_1_n.shtml

Of course you dont.

Lol, this particular response doesnt make any sense.

What I told him is that it can be repaired and kept in service as long as you are willing to pay the cost of keeping the equipment operational. The only thing incredible is how many people who have no idea of how we do that have so much to say about it!

First, you DIDN'T say so. Here is exactly what you said: "How old are these designs?". Now I may not hold a doctor degree in language but I know that statement has nothing to do with "it can be repaired and kept in service as long as you are willing to pay the cost"

Second, its the part that "willing to pay the cost" that matters. Why doesnt the USAF just keep paying for the tankers fleet and avoid the KC-X saga. You believe you do realize that there's a point where keeping the old stuffs get more costly then buying new ones, even assume that both are equally capable.

Third, i'm not Rufus, lol

Wrong, what I said:
What, you think the laws of physics only apply to USAF equipment? You think mechanical stress is Eagle specific? IT AIN'T. And take it from me, you have been hoodwinked by pro F-22 propaganda prior to Gates decision to terminate it. Yes, the Eagle has wear and tear. But like other military equipment it's designed with considerable margin for product lifetime and can be refurbished just like the platforms I showed you.
Stop playing these verbal gotcha games.

I've listened to a presentation where it was  stated that Iranian diplomats were involved in the writing of the Afghan constitution and that on suggestion of one Iranian diplomat some mention of democracy was included that document.

There even was an offer about the Iranians training the Afghan army. On the objection that this could create problems when working with American forces, the Iranian diplomats replied that they're still using the US field manuals from the times of the shah so it shouldn't be a problem.

This Iranian co-operation seized when the US started talking about designs to democratise the entire Middle East, which would include Iran.

And that presentation came from a serious think tank/policy site not some overly rightwing or leftwing site.

When it comes to strategy Darth is talking more sense than most here.
When Darth starts talking about technology, though. (rolls eyes)

dunno what the discussion is about, but last time I checked A-stan executed apostates and gays, and so does Iran probably

who cares about democracy. It is a tool like everything else.
It's the hearts of men that matter.

That is, if you guys are talking about Iran's degrees of evil. Sure, they believe in democracy... sorta. Their semi-functional system is in the middle stages of falling apart though.
