|LAHORE, Sept 24 (APP): International Commission for Human Rights has announced to launch a campaign for nomination of President Pervez Musharraf for Nobel Peace Award. This was stated by Provincial Advisor Rana Ijaz Ahmad Khan while addressing a press conference at Lahore Press Club on Friday. A special committee headed by Rana Ijaz is being constituted and intellectuals, representatives of minorities, journalists, politicians and women would be included in it. He said that the committee will visit different countries for convesing in this regard. He said that expenses of the campaign will bear every member of the committee individually. The committee will visit America, England, Swedan and other countries to present its view point, he said. Rana Ijaz said that the committee also appeals the secretary general of United Nations to support the president Pervez Musharraf for the Nobel peace award in the light of his efforts for peace in the world. He appealed to the Pakistani Community living in Europe to support the cause. He said Pervez Musharraf is a statesman of world calibre who worked the betterment of humanity, protected the interests of Muslim Ummah and impressed upon the West to realise that Muslims are peaceful citizens of the world as their religion gave them the lesson of peace and unity. He said during his recent visit to USA, the President had made it clear to the Jewish community that lasting peace could not be ensured without giving due rights to the Palestinians. Ijaz appealed to the provincial assemblies and the Parliament to pass resolutions in favour of nomination of President Pervez Musharraf for the award. He said that President Pervez Musharraf has accorded unprecedented freedom to the Pakistan Media.
