Haven't read the book - not sure I ever will. From what excerpts I have read, it smacks of insincere showmanship and drifts into areas clearly incomprehensible to him.

Put it in contrast with former ISI chief Hamid Gul's book on the Taliban and the rise of Islamic fundamentalism in South Asia (largely under his benevolent care): Even though I hate him for what he did, he atleast appears sincere and limits himself to areas of his expertise. They both come from same country, same culture, similar business - so you cant really explain it off as "His style is a product of his environment, if the authors you did read lived in Pakistan they too would write like him." Its just a poor product floated by unabashed publicity-pandering and scandal-mongering.

interesting comments, i read the book going into some thing not comprehendable to you , why so? may be because, it does not say what you wanted the writer to say and vice versa. but your comments of insincere showmanship....., so to whom is he insincere? these are his memoir is't it,  so should be taken like that. my personal feeling is that his book may draw some masses criticism in very short term but in near long term he is to likely to come out as prudent leader, capable of manipulating the scenario and using it for his maximum benefit.
