Subject: Which Tanks? Army or USMC
Rayelth    7/1/2010 3:27:17 PM
Hello all, I am joining the military and want to be a tank operator. 19 Kilo. I was wondering if any veterans of past experience could tell me which branch is better for the U.S. Miitary, the Marines or the Army? I believe army but haven't done much research and can't find much that easily.

I'm not a veteran, but I believe the Army is the tank specialist branch.  The Marines only have a few tanks.  Marines are supposed to be more flexible in general than Army from what I understand e.g. you're probably going to spend more time acting as infantry in the Marines than in the Army even if you do drive a tank as your primary job.  The Army also gets the new tanks first.  The Marines had to use M60s for a while while the Army had M1s.  If you want to be a pure, hardcore tanker, the Army is probably the way to go.
