London most expensive, dirty city in Europe: survey Wed Mar 12, 12:21 PM ET LONDON (AFP) - London is the dirtiest and most expensive city in Europe, while Brussels is the most boring, according to a British survey published on Wednesday. ADVERTISEMENT London edged out Paris for the unwanted accolade of dirtiest city in the survey of more than 1,100 travellers carried out by TripAdvisor. Respondents said Paris was the most unfriendly, followed by London and Moscow, but the French capital is still working its old magic as it was voted the most romantic destination in Europe and the best for shopping and dining. London won out for having the best nightlife and public parks. The cleanest city is Zurich, the survey said, although the tidy Swiss city also finished equal second behind EU hub Brussels as the most boring place. Prague was elected the best bargain city, followed by Budapest and Lisbon. Despite the weak dollar, half of the Americans surveyed said they planned to visit Europe this year, the same number as last year. Here is the a rundown of the top three in various categories: Best bargain city: 1. Prague 2. Budapest 3. Lisbon. Most expensive: 1. London 2. Paris 3. Rome, Venice, Oslo, Moscow (tied) Most friendly locals: 1. Dublin 2. Amsterdam 3. London. Most unfriendly locals: 1. Paris 2. London 3. Moscow. Best cuisine: 1. Paris 2. Rome 3. Florence. Best shopping: 1. Paris 2. London 3. Rome. Best nightlife: 1. London 2. Amsterdam 3. Paris. Best parks: 1. London 2. Paris 3. Barcelona, Amsterdam, Copenhagen (tied). Most romantic: 1. Paris 2. Funny that you English insult the Irish, but they are #1 for being the most friendly locals to visit while in Dublin. tigertony

Admittedly, I don't quite understand it. The purpose of this thread. Everything usually has a purpose. Is this one of those rare circumstances? If not, mr. Tiger, what exactly is this purpose? Thanks in advance for the undoubtedly enlightening explanation. I patiently await a profound paradigm shift...on my part, of course.

Well i would suggest you go back to that British defeat in America post. I suppose i actually made this post just to annoy people like Mr Flame. I also, since not having been to London, wanted to find out if it is indeed dirty. Which btw how many Brits bothered to explain?

And as for Herald, well if he wishes to continue to call me an idiot, fool,or nut i will continue to defend my paradigm till he shifts. See my problem with Herald is that he thinks that his knowledge of physics has no bearing on nuclear weapons, and Herald himself has stated this. So i wonder what people would use his expert knowledge for?

And last, but not least,Mr Flame continues to call me the bigot, yet when asked why my post is biggoted gives no explanation of why. He does however continue to post the meaning of bigot anyway. My posts may be insulting, but they are not biggoted.

Now i ask Mr Flame again, what is the meaning of my post to Herald about John Lennon, and how is it biggoted?

Sorry anuts, but i am just trying to cure all that Turniptitus, or better known as Wisdom of Turnip disease in the world.

Surely you will never tell me you are a New Yorker, Herald?  If so we should meet.

BTW, quite at sea with the Latin.

...

As y'all know I have done my best to stick up for Tony but TT, here you have lost me.  I literally have no idea what you are talking about.  Does it make you feel good to post all this?  Because I can see no other reason.  I know you mean well, but must assure you that we (I at least) are learning absolutely nothing from you on this thread (except interesting US geography lessons for our cousins across the pond, 'tis true).

Speaking for myself, I would give a foot of my small intestine for the opportunity to visit London and tour the historic naval establishments (Portsmouth, Plymouth, Greenwich, Whitehall, Haslar, etc., etc., etc.), and indeed do many other things.  Just because you don't grasp the concept of royalty, or simply don't respect it, doesn't mean you can't learn and enjoy a place where they do.

Y'all are fools to respond to Tony.  He will never give you what you are looking for.  No blame, it is a fact.  You have nothing to gain from it.  I don't mind because I am ... well, he doesn't bother me; but what are you thinking?  Hop this island, boys.  Leave the Japs on Truk.  They can't hurt you none.

TT, if you have a point, please make it.  BTW, if your business in the Navy was to type code messages which I assume were by nature gibberish, could that explain your problems with plain English?

Also, my condolences for your loss.  I had always thought the notion of ghosts was blasphemous, but not being a Christian, no doubt I am confused.

..

Oh and Bob:  I think in the US a mugging is when you are confronted and told to hand it over, at least that is my image of it.  What do you call that, highway robbery?

Yum!  A classic.  The bit on "per flagellationem extremam" reminds me of a belief I used to have, that peeling a pomegranate was so much work, and so distracting from one's delectation thereof, that slavery was justified (in this one instance) so that one could enjoy one's seeds in peace.

Tony, maybe you don't want to, but I don't think Bob maybe knows about the melting pot, and 'hyphenated Americans' as per Teddy Roosevelt.  Since I'm sure you do, why not condescend to explain it to him instead of yanking his chain?  That is what you mean about the nationalities, right?

Oh and Herald?

Brevior vita es, quam pro futumentibus negotiam agendo.
