I am starting a new petition to the UK prime minister: http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/Want10Destroyers/ Feel free to criticise, comment, take the micky, but do sign it.

It's a good cause, as we've discussed many times (both here and on Keypub), but the better bet might be to push for C1 to be a follow-up batch of cheap Type 45 derivatives. Eight of each would be a good bet, and even better would be to push for both C-1 and C-2 to be different versions of the same basic design, i.e. the non-AAW Type 45 derivative. Eight AAW, eight ASW and eight general purpose/land attack variants, all using the same hull would have major benefits.

- 2     CV QE class
- 8     T45
- 6     C1 enlarged to enable enhanced bombard / lad attack capability
- 6     C1 as previously discussed
- 10   C2 ASW
- 12   12 C3 replacement for Castle class and mine protection
- ?     Fleet replenishment and supply.  Needs to ba able to keep up with a carrier group!

- 4     4 SSBN
- 2     Refited Vanguard class for special ops and land attack, similar to what the US have done with USS Georgia

can't help thinking that we cannot afford all them with the budget we have. and they are not going to increase defense spending to buy all of them while we have far more pressing matters who the armed forces and a government in serious need of getting the public back on its side by bribing the electorate to vote for them at the next election.

We will never see numerous Cx class ships based on the large ~7,000 tonne Type 45 hull.
