Subject: Top UK military allies after US
Herc the Merc    7/14/2007 1:33:05 AM
Who would u rank in order of military importance? not ethnic alliances or EU considerations only or unconditional support--eg if Aussieland is considered a close ally but simply does not have mass to be a significant military in large large wars and hence would be disqualified, e.g UK & Australia could not have countered Germany and Japan.

A very good move for Portugal indeed which survived 6 centuries of trouble while a tiny nation.

They got a huge empire and no one took it.

They had Spain at their borders and Spain never dare to take it for centuries.

Portugal have bet on the right horse!

India and UK have just worked together to get a hat full of Oscars.

I like to think that all democracies pull together as well as compete for income.

Best UK ally ever? The Commonwealth, then USA. When is USA going to get off it's high horse and rejoin the commonwealth? India has shown you can be a republic and still pitch in.

The US?, in the commonweath? The commonwealth is made of the former Dominions and the the imperial colonies, in that order. The cornerstone of the commonwealth is the trade between UK-Canada-Aussie/NZ-India. Although the above mentioned would also make an increadable military alliance.

It's not essential to have been a colony or Dominion of the Empire to be a member of the Commonwealth.

Mozambique, a former Portuguese colony, was admitted in 1995 on the back of the triumphal re-admission of South Africa and Mozambique's first democratic elections, held in 1994.

Rwanda (since 2003), Sudan, Algeria, Madagascar and Yemen have applied to join the Commonwealth, and there was some interest expressed by Israel (being formerly administered by the United Kingdom) and the Palestinian National Authority.

Thanks for the correction, I was given to understand that my last was what it entailed. A powerfull trading block nonetheless, with strong historical and cultural ties that would still make a formadable alliance. Willpower, tech, resourses, and a population to match/superceed any.

An incredible military alliance indeed, but i can't see it ever working.
