Britain's Rather Large Problem

A study by the UK’s Department for Education and Skills has found that British schools are dropping the Holocaust and the Crusades from history lessons, out of craven fear of the Religion of Peace™. (Hat tip: LGF readers.)

Schools are dropping the Holocaust from history lessons to avoid offending Muslim pupils, a Government backed study has revealed. It found some teachers are reluctant to cover the atrocity for fear of upsetting students whose beliefs include Holocaust denial.

There is also resistance to tackling the 11th century Crusades - where Christians fought Muslim armies for control of Jerusalem - because lessons often contradict what is taught in local mosques. ...

The study looked into ‘emotive and controversial’ history teaching in primary and secondary schools. It found some teachers are dropping courses covering the Holocaust at the earliest opportunity over fears Muslim pupils might express anti-Semitic and anti-Israel reactions in class.

The researchers gave the example of a secondary school in an unnamed northern city, which dropped the Holocaust as a subject for GCSE coursework.

The report said teachers feared confronting ‘anti-Semitic sentiment and Holocaust denial among some Muslim pupils’.

Just another case of "Politically Correctness" gone mad.

I don't think this is the fault of national government, nor do I think it the fault of minorities.  I think it is the fault of local government, who are over-compensating.  It is like councils banning Christmas decorations.

What people don't seem to realise, is if you go too far in any direction, you will get a backlash in the other.  This sort of mad political correctness is going to bush people to vote for the BNP.

swhitebull    UK to Bring out the Comfy Pillow to Deal with Islamic Fanatics   4/2/2007 2:52:31 PM
UK Springs Into Action

Britain has a new plan to deal with Islamic supremacists who want to destroy Western civilization, slaughter infidels, and institute a global Islamic state.

They’re going to give the jihadis civics lessons.

Muslim “opinion formers”, including imams, are to be given lessons in civic leadership under a new plan to tackle Islamic extremism in Britain.

Ruth Kelly, the Communities and Local Government Secretary, will this week announce details of a £6 million “hearts and minds” drive to deal with growing radicalism among young British Muslims which can fuel terrorist plots.

Also part of the plan are school-twinning projects, in which pupils from mainly Muslim schools will undertake joint projects, such as music and drama, with children from predominantly white establishments. The schools could go on trips together, while groups of pupils could spend days in each other’s classrooms.

Miss Kelly will also announce a major increase in the number of “forums against extremism” - regional groups which meet regularly and which were set up in the wake of the July 7 London bombings to enable Muslims to discuss ways of tackling extremism.

At the same time, British schools are dropping the Holocaust and the Crusades from history lessons, as we noted yesterday.
swhitebull -  sorry, I just had a synagogue near my home cowardly (as it always is) desecrated by members of the 'Religion of Peace', on the eve of Passover, and our local newspaper in Chicago calls it a "possible hate crime."  I'm a tad bit annoyed with all this bending over to political correctness, and think that motion detectors coupled with pattern recognition software, defensive gatling guns of selected targets under threat,  enforced immmigration and quotas, and mandatory sterilzation for members of the ROP wouldnt be out of line at this point. My tipping point of tolerance for these assholes has been reached.

swhitebull    4 Cops Sent to Tackle 11-year Old - WTF is Going On?   4/2/2007 3:23:24 PM

What is Going on in Britain?   [Jonah Goldberg- National Review ]

Kid uses "gay" in email, cops come to the rescue:

Police send four police officers to tackle boy, 11, who called schoolmate 'gay'

By LIZ HULL - Last updated at 10:44am on 2nd April 2007

When two policemen turned up unannounced at Alan Rawlinson's home asking to speak to his young son, the company director feared something serious had happened.

So he was astounded when the officers detailed 11-year-old George's apparent crime - calling one of his schoolfriends 'gay'.

They said primary school pupil, George, was being investigated for a 'very serious' homophobic crime after using the comment in an e-mail to a 10-year-old classmate.

Maybe if the hostage takers could be tricked into calling Blair gay, we might see some action?
swhitebull - pleas, please, please give us back the "Great" that is Britain - this is NOT the way.
