Subject: From the incredible Op-for: Prince Harry off to the front
Panther    2/20/2007 8:47:28 PM
http://op-for.com/2007/02/prince_harry_to_the_front.html#comments I'm sure it's of no surprise to most Brits. But to most Americans, their last probable memory of the prince was back shortly after diana died! Well the boy prince has really grown up to be a real man that diana would be extremely proud of if she were still alive with us today! If i'm allowed, i would like to offer a sincere prayer or wish for his safe return to his homeland! G*dspeed Harry and hoping for your safe return!

AdamB:
"Isn't it sick that this guy fights for his country - like every other British soldier - and all people can do is attack him?"

No-one here is attacking him. Get a grip, fella.

Worth noting that while soldiers may join up for their country, they tend to fight for their mates.

As for being a high profile target, how do you pick him out from all the other cammed-up chaps in Scimitars?

Don't you think he knows that? Maybe he decided that being a prince is something one has to pay for at times.
It would be a bit interesting being in his unit though...

A friend at work thinks it' a conspiracy to get him killed before someone proves he's really Hewitt's son.

Mind you, she does read the Mail.

I hope he does return safely as the media would have a field day with his funeral, and the House of Windsor would be safe for another 50 years.

My stomach churns at the thought or the prospect of anything happening to the prince and what the media might say. I honor him (and other british soldiers and those from our allied nations), like i honor our soldiers here in the states!

I say keep the media as far away from him as possible and at all costs!

The Prince is an exemplary young man who should be treated a hero for the simple fact that he is going when he really needn't have. What is most heroic about him from what I have read is that he doesn't see himself as ahero, rather just another one of the Blokes. God's Speed Harry, and may you be sparred the media's presence as much as possible while you serve.

My advice to you is to hide when you see a camera, because the media presence will make you a target.

I would suggest that 2nd Lt. Wales ought to be treated as an exemplary young man rather than a hero. Leave the hero bit out of it lest you diminish its meaning.

I've seen nothing indicating that any soldier thinks of themselves as heroes and I think that they have the right of it.

If only Prince Harry paid attention to John Kerry and worked hard in school, he would not have wound up in Iraq.

Yes I was annoyed at that one too, and yes I rather dislike him. But can't we give him a break? We all have our own prejudices and if any of us were subject to the scrutiny a politician is we would say something we regret too.
In Prince Harry's case it's not a matter of school. Of course it isn't at other times, but in his case it's obviously not.
God bless Prince Harry.

Prince Harry wanted to go to Iraq.  He's wanted to be in the Army since he was a young boy.
