I recently descovered how much Aussies trash talk us... this is a post I found written by an Aussie, I find it the most offensive, yet laughable comments: " stuff war. how bout Rugby league Rugby union cricket hell we even beat you at Football and pritty much everyother sporting event. Just wait till the commonwealth games. We will probably get twice the medals england gets . its sad really old england's glory days are long gone " What do you lads have to say about this? Ignore it? Or trash talk back? and what is your opinion on that post?

I don't think Aussies in general do try to take the piss out of the English that much, I think it is just a minority of them who do, and that those Aussies who contribute to these forums laregelly fall under that group. I have been speaking to a group of Aussies for years on another forum, and make no more than the odd comment when a sporting event is on.

Relax, it's just a bit of banter. Notice how they mostly focus on sporting issues? Obviously because they know they don't have a leg to stand on in other areas. Can you imagine any of them sticking up for their contributions to popular music? Kylie Minogue, Jason Donovan, Gina Gee and other crimes against humanity too numerous to mention? And lets not even get started on TV! They know the English are the Guvernor's really, so don't begrudge them a rare chance to feel good about themselves for something. ;-)

A Patriot. What is with the "I only discovered recently" bit?? We Aussies have been "trash talking" as you so eloquently put it, for some time now. Don't worry about us giggly at you, as we don't find anything about Oz waxing Britain in sports remotely funny. More sad really. ;) Oh, but we do like to rub it in so. Solve lora infernis!!

" Beaches (do you know what they are?), babes, beer (cold, not warm), FINE WEATHER, wide open spaces etc etc etc. Good Aussie music/bands: Dragon, IceHouse, Noise Works, AC/DC, The Cruel Sea, Cold Chisel, INXS, Men at Work, Mental As Anything etc etc etc. You can keep Kylie! Erk!! And you can keep: Keeping up Appearances, Little Britain, The Kumars at no.42, Cracker etc etc etc.

"I recently descovered how much Aussies trash talk us..." They trash talk us too. I think it's an Aussie sport. Face it, you're stuck in some godawful corner of the outback with nothing to do but drink beer and count Kangaroos for weeks on end, you get bored. So you invent new words and see who you can apply them to. "I tell ya, the Yanks are a buncha Yobbers." "Yeah, they're Yobbers al'right. Wussa' Yobber? Izzat a New One?" "Yeah, a New One. Remember last week when I came up with "Woppets" and you came up with "Bunzos"? Well, a Yobber is sort of like a Bunzo but a little like a Woppet, without being Flardy." "Oh, Thanks, mate, that clears it up."

I think you will find that the word is YOBBO, not Yobber. A Yobbo is a redneck, bumpkin or a hick. For example, it could be a Yank drinking Budweiser (and only a Yank would drink that weak crap), sitting out on his ranch in Mid-Western USA watching the Prairie Dogs. Not very likely?...well no. But neither is any Aussie living in the outback. 2/3 desert. Bring lots of water. Have a nice day. By the way, we don't think of you as "woppets", more like muppets! ;) . Solve lora infernis!!

Dropbear, when you mentioned AC/DC i was about to concede a little ground to you on the music front, but you blew all that when yoou included INXS in your list. Now I'm sure you must be taking the piss. Fair point on the TV front, except Little Britain, but none of those make up for the damage done to millions of twenty something Britons by the likes of Home and Away and Neighbours! Inflicting those on the world is unforgiveable. And anyway, i'm sure it wouldn't take long to make a fair old list of decent British TV that you don't mind watching, but I am honestly strugging to think of anythng from your corner of the globe that has been worth a watch. Fair enough your mob do seem to have a bit of a sporting thing going, but there isn't much else to do out your way is there? As for your other points: Beaches - the UK has some stunning beaches and coastline, it's just to bloody cold to sit on them for all but 2 days each summer. Babes - ?????????? I'm sure as a red blooded Aussie fella, a bit of Internet "research" could put you straight on that one! Beer - You think anything in the UK needs a fridge to keep it cold? Fine weather - Erm... Got to go, the microwave's just gone ping so it looks like my pint of Fosters is ready.
