I can't say in comparison to all the former Colonies but the US has to be up there...whether the Brits hate us or not, we still look up to older brother on certain things....Still definitely want them as our friend and value them and their opinion.

" can't say in comparison to all the former Colonies but the US has to be up there...whether the Brits hate us or not, we still look up to older brother on certain things....Still definitely want them as our friend and value them and their opinion." If you know the Brits, you would know that they are a very stoic people. I bet there are many Brits who would find the statement "Still definitely want them as our friend and value them and their opinion" as "silly".

IMO I would say New Zealand. IMO I would say you are off track here. New Zealanders are no more fond of anything British than any other nation. They (like us) take pride in hammering British folk in sports (rugby and cricket) and at other pursuits. When the Queen visits NZ she tends to get eggs thrown at her. Go ask the Maori's whether they think QE2 is the bomb. Not saying they don't like Britain or are not somewhat pro-British, but they (and us) are not exactly gagging for it.

Do you say that b/c most paint American's as arrogant A-holes that don't care what anyone thinks or b/c they're old world and pompous. Yes Im sure you're right in some aspect. There's a major disconnect right now among America and it's closest allies, Australia included...and Im a major Bush backer....but trust me when I say many American's that know about politics and values of friends/allies do look at the Brits as an Ally we can't afford to lose. I've heard it many times the UK is our bridge to Europe...we do realize the importance.

They (like us) take pride in hammering British folk in sports (rugby and cricket) and at other pursuits. Come on now, when was the last time New Zealand hammered, or for that matter even defeated anybody in cricket?

Remind me again what the Indian equivalnet of Astin Martin is. Or Jaguar or Range Rover or Lotus or Rolls Royce or Mclaren or . . . . Sadly, most of those aren't even British anymore. More a combination of Detroit and Stutgart.

A while back, a director or someone went into the Volvo factory during the night shift, and found all the workers asleep under their benches in sleeping bags. And people wonder why the British automative industry failed.
