I'd hazard a guess that most people would say they were Scots/Welsh/English/Irish first, British second. If asked where I'm from, I normally reply 'Scotland' (though the accent makes it pretty obvious!)

Welsh first ,Celt second, British third, but I would fight every bit as hard for an English man as I would for the man next door if cornered. The English maybe a bunch of gits but they are my bunch of gits if you pick on them you pick on my whole family.

Me, I consider myself British first, English second... thanks for that mudshark. You know I have no clue why we all hate eachother, mind explaining. Rather don't, So it seems istory class is as good to use as it is bad to use...

I thought that I was British until I went to work in Scotland. Then I discovered that I was "Bloody English."

I could say I had pretty much the same experience after moving from Edinburgh to Portsmouth.

I consider myself East Anglian first, English second and British third. Anyone who has been to East Anglia, particularly Norfolk will realise that it is, in fact the fifth country of the UK - We have our own language (Naarrfulk), our own capital city (Naarridge), and are cut off from the rest of England by the Fens, the Broads and Thetford Forest.

Dudley is not far from my home city, there red necks there too. Brummie first, English second, British third. And we don’t hate the Sheep Shaggers, the Sweaties or the Paddy’s, as we are so superior in all worthwhile sports that its just a waste of time hating them; we’re simply a million miles out of their league! Although they may hate us, its only because there jealous.
