By Thomas Harding, Defence Correspondent Published: 11:02AM BST 22 Oct 2010 The grounding of the £1.2 billion Astute hunter-killer comes at the end of a dire week for the Royal Navy which has seen its carrier force halved, Harrier jump jets axed and warship force reduced by almost a quarter. =========== The RN is hitting by overwhelming bad luck recently.

They certainly are going through a rocky patch. One could forgive them for not being particularly buoyant.

The Royal Navy are not flotsam and jetsam just yet, though it may be crunch time; rats leaving a sinking ship are as helpful as a screendoor on a submarine. Too much criticism over this is like like shooting fish in a barrel.

An Astute post. I commend your Artful use of Audacious cliches. Be careful that the original poster is not trying to spring an Ambush, although not in the same manner as finished Agammemnon.

Anson we will see if the submarine is badly damaged, or if it has taken on the legacy of Ajax.

Yes, the last three were tricky.

I didn't understand your post until I googled the ship list.
