Subject: Cameron to scrap HMS Ark Royal

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-11570593 David Cameron has confirmed defence spending is to be cut by 8% in real terms over four years, as he unveils the strategic defence review. He denied it was simply a "cost saving exercise" as he opened his statement and said there would be no cuts to support for troops in Afghanistan. He confirmed HMS Ark Royal will be decommissioned four years early and the UK's Harrier jump jets will be axed.
