Subject: Next French prime minister...
HYPOCENTER    2/1/2007 3:44:12 PM
Looks like that Chirac bastards term is over shortly... lets talk about what the new leadership may be like, and what that means specifically in terms of the war on terror and US relations. Whose going to be running and whose favored to win? Any of these candidates represent a clear departure from Chirac or will it just be 'more of the same' with a new face?

Mr Sarkozy Centre-right.
Ms Royale Centre-left.
Mr LePen Far-right.

All candidtates seem to posess a significant departure from Chirac. Of course when one actually gets into office, one is often constrained by the various interest groups. In the case of France, that would be the unions (incl. farmers unions). I think Sarkozy is the best of the candidates for France and he has established a slight lead over Royale in the polls. However, if Royale was to be elected, she might just be the first head of state that's pretty attractive. As someone who isn't french, it's a toss up.
