Please enlighten us.
the canadians via JTF2 have been giving some foreign country greenops training over the last 18months. the "buyers" operators graduated realtime in April. ie, they successfully conducted a greenop in real time. they ran the op, they recovered the hostages, didn't kill anyone (collateral) in the process, and managed to secure the tangos for the judiciary to deal with.
first time effort, successful outcome. and a good outcome due to good core training. and this is a country with no CT experience to fall back on.

I try to stay abreast of what is going on in the world, especially with the War on Terror, but I am not familiar with any recent Canadian counterterrorism ops. Could you provide a link to any news reports on the op? If you can't do that (as I lack the skills to do), please provide a brief synopsis on the operation. I have always heard that JTF2 is rather highly regarded in the CT community, so it would do us good to hear how our Canadian cousins are doing their part in the War on Terror in addition to their support in Afghanistan.

Look up what happened in Jamaica around the 20th of April.

On April 20 a twenty year old Jamaican man described as "mentally challenged" hijacked a Canadian plane on the tarmac. He released most of the passengers and crew, bu continued to hold a handfull of the crew as passengers. Eventually counter terrorist troops assaulted the plane and arrested the man, but the articles I read claimed it was the Jamaican Defense Forces Counterterrorism Operations Group, not JTF2. I guess the Canadians could have pulled it off and are letting the Jamaicans take the credit (that kind of thing has happened before), but how can you know for sure?

Look at the wording of my prev. I haven't said the canucks did the job - they have however provided the Jamaicans with CT and green ops training via JTF2 over the last 18 months. The Jamaicans ran the job by themselves without any JTF2 present. JTF2 however.need to be congrati;ated for a successful real world "graduation"...
