The best SF teams probably have two things going for them...1-military that spends money and time looking for and training the best personell they can find....2-actual combat action in the recent past that they can analyze for lessons learned in recent operations.  The US, Britain, and Israel ( in no particular order) are the nations that have well trained and financed SF forces plus the benefit of having had lots of recent combat operations being undertaken by their SF communities.

I can think of at least 6 other special forces entities from other countries that have been almost constantly active since 1991.
temporal measurements are just as suspect as "biggest" "baddest" "most pushups done", "most gucci kit", "least group vomit after a run"  etc....

the kiwis for example aren't rolling in gold, but I'd stack them up against anyone one to one.

I'm leaving this one to Mough and co. to sort out.

these threads are pissing me right off.

some of these, half assed comments don't do any of the blokes on the job any justice.

"OK, this is wrong. I have seen Horsesoldier post alot of bullsh*t about SEALs which is just retarded and uneducated. For example, he once sayed SEALs "Use gun as bullet hose and thinks sayed bullet hose is most effective cover", in fact, the tactic mentioned above is (correct me if I'm wrong medic/mough) a Centerpeel. Basically used in ambushes to hit the enemy, and get the heck out of there, or to break contact."

No, that was me.  And  I've never met a SEAL so I can't verify that firsthand.  I think I said that I'd heard that from Army SF NCOs.  At Ft. Bragg in the mid '80s it was not unusual to run into Army SF NCOs that had combat time in Vietnam.  Especially if you're fortunate enough to be on aggressor detail for Q-Course and SERE.

Correction.  In reviewing my old posts I see that I didn't say anything about an SF NCO regarding the "use a rifle like a bullet hose" statement.  For the record, that's where I heard it.

I never worked with SEALs during my time in the Army or even met one that I'm aware of.

Oh, well sorry for saying your comment was "retarded and uneducated", but the SF NCO doesn't have his facts in order I don't think. The SEALs are basically the primary unit in SOCOM that uses the center peel I believe...go to youtube and type in "Navy SEAL tactics" and there is a video of SEALs performing the center peel in an ambush (obviously in a training exercise), it also explains why they do that, etc. Also, type in "Taking care buisness" (it's misspelled on the site), and it's a "SOF music video" (well, the song with video of SOF units training) of SEALs breaking contact in a MOUT exercise, when they are ambushed by other SEALs.

Yeah, Army SF and the Teams basically lived in Vietnam. I don't think they liked each other very much, because SF thought the SEALs were extremely aggressive (and thus SF thought they were hurting their hearts and minds campaign), and the SEALs thought SF was extremely non-aggressive/scared (and thus thought they were afraid of the enemy). I heard one SEAL (in another video, lol) say that they were "They weren't there to win hearts and minds, they were there to kick the a** of the enemy, kill him, and defeat him". Honestly, I think the individual SOF operators from the Vietnam era were better operators than what we have today. They were much more creative and showed alot more initiative, and just loved to operatore...mainly because they weren't the Hollywood types of today ($500 sunglasses, cliches, etc) and didn't have the technology we do today.

Non aggressive?  Scared?  Afraid of the enemy?  Anyone,SEAL or otherwise, who believed that should read the Medal of Honor citations for the following 18 men.
