In an all out fight with SBS taking on SAS, the SAS would win because there are more of them.

Look, these comparison threads usually go nowhere.  They usually end up coming down to little more than biased opinions.  Do your research and decide which one you want to do.  Before you get that far, however, you need to first join the Army and get through basic training and all that.  One step at a time.

I have done research, alot of it lol...but im still unsure which one would be more challenging and chances for operational deployment.I know i know im gettin a bet ahead of myself, but i have already made a decision of joining the Royal Marines which i know will be hard but i think my determination to get in to such a career will help me through the training. Then focus on gettin a speciality and then SAS/SBS selection.

Check about four posts below yours, in the "NAVY SEALS VS SAS" thread most of this has been discussed ad nauseum.

And take it from someone who is going through the process of joining the military, concentrate on the ten yard goal.  There are a million things that can DQ you before you even get out of bed.  Keep yourself in reasonably good shape and IF the opportunity presents itself, take it.  The rest is mental, according to most.

Also, before you plan your life out based on joining some super-ninja unit, consider the alternatives.  If you won't be happy in the "regular Army" or Navy or however it works with the Brits if you don't make it, then don't go.  Seriously, save yourself the heartache and wasted time.

You are waaaaaaaay ahead of yourself. You are looking at going from (presumably) someone with no tactical or military background to going into one of the most professional group of men on the planet. Come on, thinking about operational deployments and basing your decision on which to join on that is ridiculous.
the Royal Marines which i know will be hard.
Absolutely, positively focus on that first. That is extremely difficult in and of itself.

Whats your age, background, etc?

Hey GOP, just as a side note -

I know you have moved away from the whole SOF thing but if your vision is holding you up, you might give it a shot anyway.  I don't remember if you wanted to go officer or enlisted but I went to MEPS and they told me my eyes were within spec (+/- 8.00 dipoters) when my optometrist told me that I was +9.25 and +6.00.

Anyway just a heads up and something to consider.

Awesome to hear you made it through MEPS bro, what is your MOS again?

Yeah, worst case I could always have PRK surgery on my eyes. I haven't moved away from the SOF thing as much as I am just giving my self a chance to check out other options and also complete college (start in January). It's pretty immature of me to say "I'm gonna go SOF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NAVY SEALS RULZZZ" when I haven't even completed college yet. I'm considering becoming an LEO or the military after college. Right now, I'm doing as much as I can to prepare myself though. Continue to improve my conditioning, doing MMA heavy again, going to shooting courses and shooting alot, and of course focusing on school heavily.
I can relate to this guy and "Yougotyourasskicked" because I was where they were not too long ago. But, now I realize how immature I was about alot of this stuff. I was all about becoming a super-duper ultra-ninja SEAL killer that I lost sight of what really matters in a potential career: being happy and doing what you love. I guess all this stuff comes with maturity, and I still have alot to learn in that area.

Haha damn man who hasn't?  I went through that stage too but thankfully it was mostly out of my system by the time I showed up here.  And thanks about MEPS, I actually didn't make it through yet though.  I have to get some minor surgery before they will accept me, but unfortunatley it sets my timetables back about six months.  So now I have to look for another apartment, a real job, blah blah all that jazz.  MOS wise I am undesignated since you choose after OCS for the Corps, but I am leaning for intel however I can get it.

Anyway college is a great idea, and I can say that without a question or a doubt in my mind.  What are you looking at for a major?  Some of my friends from my hometown have been giving me shit since they are landing jobs with no education that pay better than what I can get having just graduated with two degrees.  Which has an aspect of truth to it, but I am far from finished with progressing in life and they are still living with their parents.  Not that I have a problem with that, but life is a process and the doors that have opened up, in terms of OCS, grad school, law school, etc. continue to amaze me.  These are the same kids that I used to sit around with and talk about the places we would go and cool things we would do to make billions and billions of dollars.  And while they were working as telemarketers I got to sit here and learn about stuff that I truly find fascinating.

Older and wiser and all that I suppose.  Talk is cheap, and I understand that now better than ever before.  I had a huge dissertation planned out in my mind but I'll just say keep your nose clean in college.  It was a little disheartening to see that I never quite fit the mold of a typical college student but the options that I have now are reward enough, and certainly outweigh smoking pot and popping pills to be cool like other kids.  Not to mention that hitting the weights instead of partying has paid off in spades; I am bigger and in better shape than about 98% of the other guys my age and trust me, the females notice.

Anyway there is my rambling monologue for the evening.  A lot of the kids I know will probably end up with a bigger house and nicer car than me, but that was never my the "light at the end of the tunnel" so to speak.  While they are nice things, to be sure, they aren't what makes my world go 'round; I'm glad I figured that out sooner rather than later.  Having cash is great but it reaches a point of diminishing returns if you aren't doing what you really enjoy.

NAVY SEALS RULZZZ!!!!1!1!!1!!one1one!!!  BTW, anyone see Bob-o lately or has he run off into the woods again?

with comments like that, you're "obviously" not military. either that or they failed to teach common sense and grammar/spelling in you entire tenure in the army, navy and arng.
