Subject: Navy SEALs vs CAG vs SF vs Devgru vs AFSOC vs SAS vs SBS vs GSG9 vs GIGN

Who wins??? I go with NAVY SEALS! Alright, time to end all of this SOF vs SOF garbage. Basic rules: Rule 1: SOF combat divers cannot be compared with SOF CT, etc. Statements such as Navy SEALs vs SAS are impossible to compare. You must at least be comparing similar units to have a true comparison in training. Rule 2: SOF units are made up of people, which are all different and have different skill levels. SOF units are impossible to compare because each small team in a particular unit has different people which make up that small team. If we follow rule 1, and compare SOF CT Teams, then CAG may have a better small team than the SAS...and vice versa. It all varies when dealing with people. Rule 3: It is impossible for people out of the loop (ie: Civilians like me, Active or former regular military, etc) to compare current SOF units without relying on both old information, possible biased information, or just plain wrong information. Rule 4: Post like "Navy SEALs vs British SAS" will NEVER yield any conclusive evidence and will NEVER yield anything productive. Rule 5: NEVER COMPARE SOF UNITS! BOTTOM LINE. ---------------------------------------------

Well...

Totally with you on the whole Theo thing but TJ is part of Mexico and guns are pretty much a no-go down there.  Lots of signs and such on your approach (at least in the Nogales area).  Just because you are a SEAL doesn't mean you get to break the rules of other countries when you are not on a mission or whatever.  And one of the guys who I was talking to when I was considering the SEAL route told me that sometimes guys go down there to party on the weekends, TJ is pretty close to Coronado I guess.  I even think they have to do a ruck run down and back but I'm not sure.

So on the whole it sounds like he has some exposure to the NSW scene, but I'm nor sure if his brother really was a SEAL or not.  Whatever.  It looks like he finally sprung his story on the wrong crowd, still waiting to see what GF has to say about Mr. Rohman or whatever the Dive Motivator guy's name was.

I get you on the no guns thing, but honestly if there is a way to pack without getting caught I'd do it. TJ is a dangerous area, and his 'attack' (if real...i'm doubtful) is evidence of that. G23>8 unarmed Tijaun's.

The SAS and SBS are my favorites to win because they are both trained in similar ways and both are also trained to do what other special forces wouldn't even dream of doing. The US Navy Seals and the SAS are easy to compare.....ready for it,the SAS would obviously kick their ass.

Have the best combat record, along with SAS! SF, had trouble in Nam etc.

Of course, then there are the smartass uh-merr-cuns such as myself who have just learned whose toes not to step on.  This SOF comparison bit is like a disease, it is even cross-contaminating threads now!  This whole section will have to be quarantined off before long, and it will turn into a prototypical zombie move.  Mough and Bob will have to run around with rifles and shotties saving everyone from the SEAL and SAS baddies while the rest of us offer comic relief.

Comparison, is the easy part! But to decide, which one to join is hardest for most guys??? Every guy, knows, what type
of commando he wants to be etc. all the info is there to compare etc.

The one who will win is the one who camps out and waits for everyone else to kill eachother than mops up the rest.  That works in computer games which is just about as relevant and applicable as this question.

Your post doesn't seem to have any relevance to what you quoted...

And I don't think you can make the computer game to real world comparison here.  But hey, what do I know.

My reply was sarcastic.  This spec-ops vs. spec-ops vs spec-ops etc. etc. is a ridiculous comparison and question because many of these organizations have different taskings, missions, and training.  Its like trying comparing a rife, to a machine gun, to a pistol.  They might all be high quality at certain things but nevertheless you cant say one is just "better" than the other.

Hence my reply.  Obviously you cant tie videogame multiplayer strategy into reality.  That was the bloody point: the question that started this thread itself completely ignores reality as well.

Ok I missed the sarcasm.  Didn't catch the tail end of that sentence I guess.  And the first part of my reply was directed to the person above you, who quoted something I said that had no real relevance to the point he was making.

I started this thread to end comparisons (albeit, this was long ago). Yet, we continue to have comparisons here.

How f'ing hard can it be to comprehend that you absolutely cannot compare units? Seriously. I was a 15 year old kid when I started this thread. If I could understand that at 15, then why the heck can't full grown adults comprehend that?  You have different mission taskings, different specialties, different budgets, different training rotations, different people, different cultures, different weapons, different command structures to name a few 'differences'.
