Subject: Chicago Sends Its Highest Regards

I've just returned from a brief but wonderful stay in Oz. I even got to dive the Great Barrier Reef and see humpback whales up close. It's the character of your people that I enjoy most though. A raised glass to you, fine sirs and sheilas. v^2

I do hope your raised glass contains some fine Aussie wine that you should have (if not) taken home with you. http://www.strategypage.com/CuteSoft_Client/CuteEditor/Images/emsmile.gif" align="absMiddle" border="0" alt="" />

Indeed.  Sparkling, chardonnay and reds -- all yummy delicious and, fortunately, readily available here in the states.

Now about your beloved Bundaberg ... well, I'll be polite and just say that I did tipple a double shot of Bundy atop Q1 with some rugby buddies and will stick with Oz wines and brews next visit ;>)

Cheers friends.

Bundy was never my choice when I drank rum. Bacardi Superior was my drop of choice. http://www.strategypage.com/CuteSoft_Client/CuteEditor/Images/emthup.gif" align="absMiddle" border="0" alt="" />

These days I stick to a certain Victorian brand of wines. Not a huge fan of my local Qld wines. http://www.strategypage.com/CuteSoft_Client/CuteEditor/Images/emlove.gif" align="absMiddle" border="0" alt="" />

Yup, Q1 has a pretty good view. Brisbane was to get a similar one had Vision Tower gone ahead. Thanks to the GFC and some UK banks going  A over T, our super tall probably won't get built.http://www.strategypage.com/CuteSoft_Client/CuteEditor/Images/emcry.gif" align="absMiddle" border="0" alt="" />

Glad you liked Qld and was one of the lucky Yanks not to get into diving trouble on the GBR.http://www.strategypage.com/CuteSoft_Client/CuteEditor/Images/emsmileo.gif" align="absMiddle" border="0" alt="" />

It being "winter," there weren't nasty stingers to worry about.  Unfortunately the operator thought that conditions were too cold for all-day fun even with thick suits.  A Kiwi and I convinced them the water temperature was as warm as it gets back at our respective homes (true) and we finally obtained permission to go out once together but didn't see much without the local experts.  The Aussies and a lone Japanese just dived in the morning and boated out to passing humpbacks during the rest of each day.  I admit the currents were considerably stronger than I am used to but this wasn't a problem aside from becoming tired.  The wildlife was well-behaved.  I suspect my countrymen who make the newspages for all the wrong reasons are diving in the summer season?

Glad you enjoyed yourself. My hint should you return is that Bundy should only be consumed as a "Dark and Stormy", a pre-mixed brew with the ginger beer of the same brand. Beaudiful!
