Subject: A backwards SP wish-list anybody?
Aussiegunneragain    11/5/2008 7:19:36 AM
Given the news that the government's plans to run a big budget surplus has just gone tits-up with the global financial crisis (the current forecast surplus has just been slashed from $21billion to $5billion), it would seem an apt time to play a different game to the usual SP Oz board "what is your dream ADF". The new rules to the game are that you have to list the defence programs that you would cut and the order in which you will cut them. I wait for your contributions with anticipation.

DOFD (this is the new acronym for them incidentally)

General meetings with DoF are still referred to as DOFa.  There is a specialised costing cell within Finance that only does Defence reviews - atypically referred to as DOFd.

We refer to DOFd when things are pear shaped.

ah, worked out why .

DOFD is what we still refer ro as mainstream DOF

DOFd is the specialised Defence review area

So we still refer to DOFA to avoid internal confusion with the "specialist" DOF team

They are actually called the Department of Finance and Deregulation now but they are correctly referred to in short as Finance. See link.

well DOFd are getting a work out at the moment because all the "critical" 2nd pass projects have to get to the nat security council and fit into what remains of the white paper.  3 litres of water doesn't fit into a 1 litre bucket.  DOFd's job is to make it fit - and fit within the rules.
