Working at on of her majesty's semi-permanent walled residential facilities todau and had the pleasure of watching F-111's and C-17's do laps of the area. Lots of low loops from the C-17 - pilot training/familiarisation i suspect but tell me if I'm wrong. Gee they look good int he flesh. Would love to climb through one. The proportions make them look small in the air but you just know they are huge. Anyone going to the Amberley Airshow ?

Probably won't be able to go to the Airshow, but had the pleasure of climbing through a couple of C-17s very recently myself...........VERY cool. Need more them though.

C-17 is a big one for sure.  I had fun going through it last year at the Andrews AFB show.  This spring I had several trips down to Charleston SC, and on one trip the DreamLifter came in and passed the row of C-17's.  Now that is a large airplane!  It taxied right past our terminal, and I the pix turned out okay except for the reflection through the windows.

I would like to go but will be working my second job till midnight on the saturday and by sunday I will be too arsed to drive down to Ambels.

I'm yet to see a C-17 fly over Brissy, however, I was at Coorparoo the other day and saw a giant Antonov fly over with its gears down. Pretty impressive on finals!

Richmond on the edge of sydney has been seeing a lot of C-17 action, mostly from US planes.
Must be training up pilots or something. Some weird flight plans... Love watching them come in head on, look so stubby..

While more would be nice (well atleast 1 more), we are pretty lucky. UK, Canada and Australia bought decent numbers so even without US assistance, there is a whole lot of commonwealth airlift avalible.

Uk is looking at atleast 6, maybe 8. Canada and OZ 4 a peice. So thats 14 C-17's. Thats pretty decent concidering compared to NATO which is at what? 2?

Recently saw a SQ A380 takeoff from Sydney airport, very impressed (quiet as well). But damn was it ugly!
